Five Years Free with Kim Kardashian & Alice Johnson

Alice Johnson is a former prisoner turned criminal justice reform advocate, author, and non-profit leader. She received worldwide attention when Kim Kardashian advocated for her release from a mandatory life sentence without parole for a first-time nonviolent drug case. After almost 22 years in prison, Alice was granted clemency in 2018 and a full pardon in 2020.

Upon her release, Alice founded Taking Action for Good (TAG) to advocate for second chances for deserving individuals, uplift formerly incarcerated people who are making good use of their second chances, and promote policy changes focused on redemption and rehabilitation.

To celebrate five years of freedom from incarceration — and to honor Kim Kardashian for the role she played in Alice’s journey to freedom — Alice worked with me, our events team, and our production coordinator to host a gala reception in Beverly Hills.

We had a week and a half from the time we got the call to plan, design, produce, and host the event.
